GDPR Info session - hosted by BTP - concluded

On Friday, June 1st 2018 Bureau Telecommunications and Post St. Maarten (BTP) hosted an info-session on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which is a regulation in EU law that was approved by the European Union on April 14th 2016, and set to come into force on May 25th 2018.
The info-session was geared towards entities on Sint Maarten that are collecting and proccessing data of EU residents, whereby BTP invited an Electronic Communications Regulatory Expert to further outline the potental implications of the EU GDPR to business on Sint Maarten.

The main objective of the info- and Q&A session was to create more awareness on the GDPR requirements that need to be met, and duly inform businesses on the potential consequences of non-compliance.

The session was well attended with close to 60 participants from banks, insurance companies, government, NGO's and ICT sector.
