PHILIPSBURG - On January 7th 2016 the Director of Bureau Telecommunications and Post St. Maarten Mr. Anthony Carty received Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunications (TEATT) Honorable Ms. Ingrid Arrindell together with supporting staff, for an introductory meeting.
Objective of the meeting was to open a constructive working relationship between the Regulator and Ministry, and to give to the Minister and supporting staff a better understanding of Telecommunications & Post regulations, the St. Maarten Telecom industry, regional developments and ongoing projects to further strengthen the sector as well as the internal organization of BTP.
Minister Arrindell showed her dedication to enhance Telecom Services in St. Maarten, and expressed readiness for mutual cooperation in the implementation of various projects that are vital for the further improvement of Quality of Service and Customer Experience on the island.
Director of BTP, Mr. Carty applauded the Minister for her active involvement and vision. He stated: “in order for us to achieve our strategic goals; to introduce new technologies to the island and support economic development through telecommunications, support on ministry level is very important and much needed. We envision St. Maarten as being a regional Telecommunication hub which shall attracted investments for E-Health, E-Commerce & E-Learning. It is our belief that this can be accomplished through close collaboration with all stake holders, including the Ministry of TEATT. As the regulator we are therefore very pleased with the open-door policy of hon. minister Arrindell, and we are confident that ‘together we can achieve more'.
